HOLD THY MOUTH

                                   BRIDLE THE MOUTH
The art of speech has been one great blessing from God, yet this blessing can be misused. God after creation endowed all men with different blessings. Blessings that when looked upon and comparing ourselves with other living things cause us to wonder why God cherished us thus. Like all gifts God gave us, Satan is steadfastly seeking to present this gift to us counterfeited. He urges the mind of one who fails to lean on God to think casually of all adornment God provided for the human race.
Sex is one of God’s gifts of love, designed to bring comfort and love to only those who are joined together in marriage. But the evil one roams around like a lion looking for whom to devour. He seeks the mind of those who ignores the beautiful plead of the Holy Spirit, those whose heart are open to sin

The evil one will not relent for he knows his days are short. The gift of speech is not spared, here Satan works strongly to derail us from faithfully using this gift. The gift of speech is used every day. It is part and parcel of all our daily dealings. The greatest of temptations we face daily mostly comes from the use of our tongues.
Most of the mishap the world is facing today came as a result of the gift of speech not used accordingly to God’s plan. Sometimes a mere threat yet from a heart of good can be detrimental to one who uttered the threat. Many are imprisoned because of their mouth. Many are killed because of what they say, families are broken, friendships destroyed all because of the mouth. The use of the mouth should be done cautiously for it is stronger than a nuclear weapon.
The mouth is a weapon that will kill, it can also save. Sometimes we forget Satan used this same gift to bring down our first earthly parents. He spoke and Eve was convinced. Unknown to us, most times we convince people to sin. Many a times we break hearts with what comes out of our mouths. We cause People to spend lonely times crying or thinking gravely about others. We gossip, we back bite, we tell unhealthy jokes. There are times we do these things without knowing we are sinning.

WHAT DOES THE BIBLE SAY CONCERNING SPEECH?
Ephesians 5:4 “Dirty jokes, foul talks and coarse jokes…. These are not for you. Instead remind each other of God’s goodness and be thankful” God reminds us that speech is a gift from him, designed for uplifting each other in Godly ways.
As Christians our words should always contain a Christ like identity. How can we preach to people around us when we set evil examples through our wrongful use of speech? Mathew 12:34-35 how can you who are evil say anything good? For out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaketh.” We are known from what comes out of our mouth. Our characters are laid bare when we speak, a bared character should always show Christ in it.
Still many forgot God is omnipotent, all great and all powerful. We speak however we like, even speaking ill of our creator. We swore in his name. Many comedians now consider God a tool for entertaining people. The musicians and those in the movie industries are not left out of such evil. Exodus 20:7 “you shall not use the name of Jehovah your God in vain”. Using God’s name wrongly is sin and God will not hold the one who uses his name in vain lightly.
We must give account of all careless words we utter. Mathew 12:36, 37 “men will have to give account of every careless word they have spoken” knowing we are being held accountable for the misuse of this wonderful gift, why then should we continue to misuse it. A man who guards his speech from his heart will live long. In fact the bible in Proverbs 3:5 say “He who guards his lips guards his mouth but he who speaks rashly will come to ruin”. We must understand not just this earthly death but eternal death for all who speaks evil.  Again remember every idle word spoken will surely be given account of when Christ comes the second time.
BRIDLE YOUR MOUTH JUST LIKE THE HORSES ARE BRIDLED AND OUR BODIES WILL BE LED ARIGHT. LIKE A LITTLE SPARK OF FIRE ON DRY LEAVES SUCH CAN OUR WORDS BE, SETTING FIRE TO EVERY SOUL THAT HEARS IT.
